Even as I write this, the United States and Iran have just traded blows almost 50 days into a ceasefire agreed upon after intense 40 days of airstrikes on each other's infrastructure. This, amidst intense discussions on how to peacefully open the strait of Hormus and work out a framework on how to permanently end hostilities between the U.S and Iran. Then, the U.S secretary of state, Marco Rubio pops up and threatens that the U.S would open the strait "one way or the other." Mr. Rubio said this while implying that the United States had no need of negotiating with Iran on how to open the strategic water way and that they would rather use their military might to do so.
