Iran's Elusive Supreme Leader: But who is Mojtabah Khamenei?
The thing is that we all know that Mojtabah Khamenei is the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's son and his successor.
Yes, he's apparently the current Supreme leader of Iran.
However, no one has seen this gentleman in public since he was rumored to have survived the heavy bombing that killed his father and a good number of his closest family.
Picture of Iran's Elusive leader: Mojtabah Khamenei.
The world was eagerly waiting to have a glimpse of the new Supreme leader during his father's burial, only for the 7 day event to go by without sight of him!
The only person in Iran's government who claims to have met him since he was selected as the new ruler of Iran, is the country's president Masoud Pezeshkian.
There is however no way to certify the authenticity of his claim.
One major actor in Iran's government is foreign affairs minister Abbas Aragchi. Given the nature of his job, he is one of the chief representatives of Iran during the ongoing negotiations between the Islamic Republic and the United States of America.
From observation, Mr.Aragchi seemingly reports to "someone about the status of the negotiations.
However, Abbas Aragchi recently said that he has not met the current Supreme Leader.
Therefore, whoever he reports to is a question that crosses minds of many!
Recently, the supreme Leader's father in law said that for security reasons, the Supreme is currently not talking to anyone!
This led to a number of people wondering how he's able to govern the country when he's not communicating with anyone.
All the world has seen of this man are broadcast/pulished letters attributed to him.
For a letter that is not handwritten, there is no way to tell whether these letters are trully from Mojtbah or just attributed to him.
With almost everyone who was in his father's compound reportedly killed in U.S-Israel's military strikes on the 28th of February, Mojtabah is apparently the sole survivor of the bombings.
However, word has gone around suggesting that though Mojtabah survived being killed by bombs, he was left with injuries that most likely disfigured him.
However, this information has not been verified.
Given these conflicting reports about the new Supreme Leader's health in addition to elusiveness, it is hard to believe that Mojtbah Khamenei is indeed the man in control of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In my opinion, Mojtabah is either dead or, if he's alive, he's not in position to run the country.
I am of a view that declaring an elusive person for the Supreme leadership role was both a strategic and political move by those governing Iran presently. Strategic in a way that the assassins will waste their time seeking to kill a person who does not even exist while someone else effectively steers the wheels of the country.
This was also a political move because in such a votalile period, it is important to maintain social order especially after the untimely death of a leader they had grown to love as father and grandfather.
The name "Khamenei" currently seems to be the glue that sticks the highly divided population of Iran together.
For the population to hear that another Khamenei is in charge, it gives them an illusion that the old man still lives through his son.
However, there is a powerful man known as Ahmed Vahid.
He is the current commander in Chief of the IRGC. This is one of the most powerful and influential positions in Iran, next to the Supreme Leader.
Ahmed Vahidi is a very radical hardliner and of late, alot of military and diplomatic decisions seem to have traces of him.
I IRGC Commander, Ahmed Vahidi.
With each passing day, since Iran's old Supreme Leader was assassinated, it appears more and more as if the IRGC is now in complete control of the country.
This would automatically put Ahmed Vahidi charge of affairs in Iran.
Therefore, could Ahmed Vahidi be the person running Iran under the identity of Mojtabh Khamenei?
Or, is Mojtaba really alive and running the country?
Could there be something like a council of experts currently running the Islamic Republic?
In my opinion, until we get concrete evidence that Mojtabah is alive and well, a good number of us believe that someone else is currently running the Islamic Republic of Iran under Mojtabah Khamenei's name!
